About Laura Inman, LLPC

Sarah Unexpected loss, relational struggles and other hardships like depression, trauma experiences, job loss or life transitions can lead to changes inside you, where you just don't feel like yourself anymore. Maybe you are a parent of a child who is in pain and you desperately want to get them the help they need. Recognizing these things and reaching out for support is a brave step. My approach comes from an attachment theory where we know that every human needs relationships with safe people. Building an ability to practice self compassion, supports your goal to live with joy, even through times of struggle.

Training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) means I listen to your story first, to find the pieces that have shaped your view of yourself. We work together to heal the hurt places that have diminished your self-confidence or keep you feeling stuck. I work with all ages and specialize in kids and adolescents from a trauma informed perspective. I emphasize the parent/child relationship and partner with parents to change unhealthy patterns. Kids facing issues with anxiety, loss, divorce, or a traumatic experience need extra support. I make the therapy process fun and focus on building on the child’s strengths. I weave in education strategies to help them learn new coping skills with the goal of increased overall wellness.

My background is in elementary education and I spent the past 20 years working in churches teaching kids, mentoring, and encouraging families. I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, and creating. I’m a mom of three teenagers who I love adventuring with! My husband and I are both passionate about mentoring younger generations and this year, we will be opening our home for foster care. Even in my personal life, I value authentic relationships.

Counseling can be scary or maybe you think it's for those people who are "worse off than you." In reality, we all will experience varying degrees of suffering. It is courage, not weakness, to admit you need help and support to move forward. Sometimes it's like asking a friend to help you organize a room you've avoided, piled with too much stuff.
